Choosing Forgiveness | Kim Phúc Phan Thị | TEDxVienna

The Terror of War, colloquially known as Napalm Girl, is a photograph taken on 8 June 1972. It shows a naked 9-year-old girl, Phan Thi Kim Phuc, running toward the camera from a South Vietnamese napalm strike that mistakenly hit Trảng Bàng village instead of nearby North Vietnamese troops. It is credited as one of the most famous images of the Vietnam War and an indictment of the effects of war on innocent victims in general.

Choosing Forgiveness | Kim Phúc Phan Thị | TEDxVienna

TEDx Talks, 10 janv. 2023

In this emotional talk Kim remembers her brutal experience during the Vietnam war and how she found hope and forgiveness. Kim Phúc Phan Thị is known around the world as “The Girl in the Picture” and the “Napalm Girl.” In 1972, age 9, she was immortalized in a Pulitzer Prize-winning photograph that shows her running down a road in Trang Bang, Vietnam, after having her clothes burned off by napalm. Living symbol of the atrocities of war and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for the Culture of Peace, she is also the founder of The KIM Foundation International. There, she supports children who are victims of war by providing medical and psychological support in order that they overcome their traumatic experiences.
